1. Riding on the Motorcycle

Nothing more fun then wind through your hair and a smile on your face when riding on your own scooter or a motorcycle. Total freedom to go where you want! What a way to explore the real Vietnam!

2. Trekking around Sapa

In the far north, the majesty of the mountains is elevated by the colours of the hill people who call them home. Located in northwestern Vietnam, just a few kilometres from the border with China, this little town is a great place for trekkers. Multi-day hikes depart from Sapa and take you on an incredibly scenic journey through the rice terraces of the Muong Hoa Valley. You can also arrange for family homestay so you get to experience a day in the life of a local around these parts.

3. Taking a Cyclo for going around

In a cyclo you’re sitting in front of the driver who is on a bicycle behind you, so you really feel part of the crazy street traffic. This may sound like a terrifying proposition to be in among the moped frenzy of Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi, but if you’re interested in the art of people watching and generally understanding the minute of daily life that give Vietnam it’s unique feel, then the slow pace of cyclo are a must-have travel experience.

4. Street Food Tour

Vietnam is a food lover’s paradise, with countless tasty and affordable options, but the sheer amount of things and places to eat, especially in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang or Hue city, can be overwhelming. The best place to eat in Vietnam is on little, plastic stools on the sidewalk. Whether it’s noodle soups, like the iconic pho or bun bo Hue, or bun cha, the street food in Vietnam is nothing short of amazing. At any hour of the day, you’ll find Vietnamese people of all ages congregating under market awnings or outside store fronts, chowing down and enjoying each other’s company. Eating on the street is by far the most exciting — and accessible — way to truly experience daily life in Vietnam, and it’s also where you’ll find the best food.

5. Overnight sleeper to somewhere on a old train

Hurtling south in the dark our patchy sleep was punctuated by the arrival of the beer and noodle trolley and change of occupancy of the opposite bunks. At daybreak, there were glimpses of small shops on the edge of the track, views of coastline, water buffalo, bananas, more coastline, more beer and noodle trolleys. This is a truly one of a kind experience that you simply must do.

6. Cruising Halong Bay

Set sail among the thousands of limestone outcrops that rear up from the emerald waters of Halong Bay on a traditional wooden junk. Enjoy a night on board under the stars and sunrise on board.

7. Enjoy a glass of Bia Hoi – the enjoyable drink

Vietnam is home to the famous Bia Hoi beer, the cheapest glass of beer in the world. At just $0,2 a glass, nothing beats the feeling of drinking all night and being presented with a bill of about 2 dollars! The beer is brewed locally every day and then delivered to all the local bars.  This means the beer is ridiculously fresh and with just 3% alcohol content, it’s a perfect drink on a hot summer days. Best tasted while sitting on a small plastic chair on street corner, such as Beer Corner in Hanoi but can be found all over the country if you look hard enough. You are never in Vietnam if you have not tried Bia hoi. Let’s do this thing to enjoy an interesting experience as soon as possible!

8. Discovering the Delta’s floating markets

Explore the working waters of the Mekong Delta by boat and see the flurry of activity at the morning floating markets.

9. Ordering coffee in Vietnam like a local

Coffee is brewed differently in Vietnam. It’s sort of a mix between the French press and pourover methods and despite producing great coffee, it’s surprisingly “low tech”. You won’t see any chem-lab looking siphons or giant blown-glass drip towers. Coffee is brewed in a little metal filter called a “phin”. Grounds go in, water goes in, and coffee comes out. It’s quite simple actually but the resulting coffee has flavor and depth that is anything but simple.

10. Taking a visit to Vietnam pagoda

Besides the beautiful sceneries, Vietnam is also a country of Buddhism, one of the biggest religions of the world. Pagodas always play an important role in Vietnamese spiritual life. The foundation of the Buddhist concept of morality and right behavior, the eight fold path, consists of right views, or sincerity in leading a religious life; right intention, or honesty in judgment,..  with the mysterious things behind that happened in parallel with Vietnam history. So why don’t we try another interesting way to discover the Vietnamese culture, through the stories told by pagodas?

With its dramatic landscapes, fascinating history, epic food and pulsating energy, Vietnam will electrify all of your senses and seize you from all angles. Now, let’s start to experience one of top 10 amazing things to do in Vietnam!
